BETTER TOGETHER
Being an indie author doesn’t mean doing it alone. In our community, we grow by sharing tips, asking questions, and helping each other succeed. Whether you’re just starting or have published many books, your voice matters here.
How I Got Started
Back in 2019, the world turned upside down. Like many people, I was laid off from my job when the COVID pandemic hit. With so much uncertainty and extra time on my hands, I started thinking about how I could make money online—how I could create something of my own.
That’s when I did something unexpected.
I wrote a short romance novel and published it on Amazon.
It wasn’t a bestseller, and to be honest, I had no idea how to market it. But in the process of writing and self-publishing that book, something clicked. I fell in love with books—the storytelling, the creativity, and the entire self-publishing journey.
Even though the book didn’t bring in sales, it gave me something far more valuable: a new direction.
Two years later, in 2021, I translated my very first book: Romance Discovery of Love by Boris Utan. It was a beautiful story, and bringing it to life in Spanish for a new audience felt incredibly rewarding. That moment lit a fire in me. I realized that there are so many indie authors out there with great stories that deserve to be read by Spanish-speaking readers too.
Helping authors reach the Spanish community became my mission.
Since then, I’ve kept going. I now have my own website where I offer Spanish book translation services—often for free—to support fellow indie authors. I’ve also written another book of my own: a self-help guide titled Fear, Pain. Loss. It’s deeply personal and written to help others going through hard times, just like I did back in 2019.
This journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been meaningful. I still have big plans. I want to keep translating books, keep writing my own, and one day turn this into my full-time career.
If you’re an indie author dreaming of reaching more readers—or just someone chasing a passion after life threw a curveball—I hope my story encourages you to keep going.
You never know what path will open up when you follow what you love.
